Chapter 5 - SPLTOOL Batch Commands

The SPLTOOL package contains a set of batch commands that makes performing options on one or a group of spooled files much easier. These commands are similar to the interactive commands discussed in Chapter 4 but the difference being these commands allow the use of generic names or the *ALL parameter.

This means that you can perform options on spooled files easily by such attributes and file name, user, form type, output queue and user data.

The batch commands available with SPLTOOL are:

  • Spooled File to Folder - Batch (SPL2FLRB) - Use this command to copy a set of spooled files to a folder.

  • Spooled File to Stream File - Batch (SPL2STMFB) - Use this command to copy a set of spooled files to the Integrated File System (IFS).

  • Spooled File to FTP - Batch (SPL2FTPB) - Use this command to FTP a set of spooled files to a machine running an FTP server.

  • Spooled File to Email - Batch (SPL2EMAILB) - Use this command to Email a set of spooled files to a recipient as attachments. The maximum number of spooled files is 50 using this command. You must have the MAILTOOL program installed, be on V4R3 or higher of the operating system, and have email working for this option to function.

Spooled File to Folder - Batch (SPL2FLRB)

**NOTE: The SPL2FLR and SPL2FLRB commands will be removed in the future from SPLTOOL as they are and have been obsolete for a while. Please update your applications to use the SPL2STMF and SPL2STMFB commands and also use the IFS instead of the QDLS file system.
